The Wedding
When I was a girl I was obsessed with weddings. Since before I can remember I dreamed of my own fantasy wedding day. A day filled with a prince, a castle, and a big beautiful dress.
Fast forward to when I was 16. I was a Beatles loving, hippie-wanna-be. It was then I dreamed of having a fun bohemian wedding.
Fast forward to last November. Dallin got on a knee, proposed, I said YES! and the planning began. Somehow my dream wedding had morphed into a combination of both my childhood and teenage dream. I wanted a classic/classy reception, yet I was still drawn to that bohemian feel.
Well, through a series of long planning months and a LOT of help from my mom and others both of my dreams came true and I had a perfect wedding day. Here are some of my favorite details! xoxo
The Dress
Finding my dress and definitely one of the more easier wedding tasks. On a chilly November day, my mom, sister, aunt, and cousins joined me in the hunt for my dream dress. We started at a place called Sweetheart Bridal in Provo, Utah. As luck would have it, I ended up buying the first dress I tried on! Of course we went to several other shops that day where I tried on a variety of different styles. However, nothing quite compared to the first one I put on. So, the next day my mom and I went back and bought it! It required a few minor adjustments (bringing in the waist & raising up the hem) but other than those it was ready to wear. It was classy, but also the floral lining made it feel a little boho. I feel so lucky to have found my perfect dress! (Thanks to Nicole Aston for the gorgeous photographs)
The Venue
Just like my dress, I wanted to find a venue that felt classy, but I also want it to have a boho edge. My top choice was a building called the Startup Building. I had seen a few friends pull off awesome receptions there. However, when I called to book it our date was already taken! At first I frustrated, but it all worked out when they told me about their sister building - The Bright Building. It felt like the Start Up Building, but bigger. It was industrial, but the wood panels on the walls made it feel warm and classic. I loved it AND it was affordable! As a result of getting married on Thursday, it was cheaper than a weekend. For $50 more we got it the night before which was AWESOME because it was entirely set up that night which meant we had a stress-free wedding day. It ended up being a perfect venue!!
